John and Connie Mink invited everyone to bring their wagons to their Minkland Farm outside of
Harrodsburg, Kentucky over the weekend of August 23-25, 2019 for a weekend wagon ride. Several of us arrived on Friday afternoon and spent the evening enjoying the first cool
temperatures in several months. The daytime highs over the weekend were forecast to be in the upper 70's with overnight lows in the upper 50's. By the time we were ready to pull out on
Saturday morning, there were 8 wagons along with 5 outriders ready to go. Connie led us on a 23 mile loop around Mercer County which was highlighted by a lunch stop at a boat ramp
on the Kentucky River. When we arrived back at Minkland Farm late on Saturday afternoon, Connie (with help from her son Zack) put out a real spread for supper. This was capped by
ice cream from a soft-serve machine located in one of their garage buildings! On Sunday morning, we all went up to the house where Jerry Waldridge cooked the country ham that Danny
Crawford provided along with making some delicious country gravy for the homemade buscuits that Jerry also provided. Although Sunday was another beautiful day, it turns out that
everyone had other things to do and so after breakfast, we all loaded up and departed. Overall, it was a really nice weekend with great company, great weather, and great food. It
doesn't get much better that this!!
